Carbon Steel Roll
Carbon Steel Roll
With Induction or Flame Hardening you start out with a High Carbon Steel (52100) The problem is that the carbon is throughout the roll body the entire body, roll necks too. Roll is stiff.
Carburized Steel Roll
Carburized Steel Roll
With Carburization you start out with a Low Carbon Steel (8620) By Carburization we only. Harden the surface of the roll body. This allows the rest of the roll body to be a little less rigid this is an excellent roll for Levelers, Pulling Rolls. Pinch Rolls, Stamping Line Feed Rolls. Any steel roll that sees abuse.
1% Carbon level only at roll body surface which allows roll body surface to be hard where it needs to be! Leaving the rest of the roll with 0.2 carbon making it somewhat more flexible than a 52100 roll.
