The Thermal Transfer roll is manufactured with an 8620 forged steel sleeve, carburized to a depth of 3/8" per side (3/4" on diameter). It
is then quenched and tempered to a final hardness of 60-65 Rc. The shell is then fitted to a
4140 heat treated mandrel that has been machined with a serpentine
pattern that allows uniform temperature control of 1-2 degrees across the face
during operation. Rolls are manufactured for new and replacement equipment.
Benefits of using the Hi-Hard Thermal Transfer Rolls
The heat transfer of steel constructed rolls is greater than iron rolls.
Hardened roll shell of 60-65 Rc provides excellent wear resistance.
Increased beam strength and greater resistance to roll face damage.
Longer period of time between regrinds - reduces maintenance costs.
Re-sleeve of roll body is available at greatly reduced cost vs. new.
Hi-Hard Re-sleeves Thermal Transfer Rolls
Hi-Hard
will take existing Thermal Transfer rolls, remove the shell and replace it with a
new carburized and hardened roll shell. This process can be existing units or original equipment manufactured rolls. The cost to re-sleeve is typically 50-60% of new roll prices.
